What is so unique about water that is exactly as it was a million years ago?

Millions of years ago, rain fell through an atmosphere that was rich in oxygen and void of nitric, hydrochloric and sulfuric acids.

 

Pollutants have drastically changed the chemistry of the water that is available to us.  The oxygen in the air available to put oxygen into the rain is estimated to be less than one half of what it once was a million years ago. 

 

Also adding to the change in the water is the high acid content, volatile chemicals and soot in the atmosphere.  Add to these problems all the minerals, pesticides, fertilizers, animal wastes and industrial chemicals that the rain water picks up as it finds it's way through the ground to our water supplies.
